The word „vintage“ originally refers to the year a wine is produced and is used to describe a high-quality aged wine, but vintage has come to describe fashion and styles that have aged well. Vintage doesn't necessarily mean that the actual decor is physically old; it can also mean that the style is inspired by styles that were popular decades ago. This term applies to clothing, decor, and even toys. Vintage home decor is special because it is always stylish.

Vintage Style

Antique home decor gives your home a sense of antiquity. Items that are old, or at least appear old, have a charm that modern furniture completely lacks. You can find almost any type of furniture or appliance that is vintage style. Vintage styles don’t often evoke nostalgia, as they are generally old and weren’t popular in childhood, but are perfectly recognizable from old images and stories from older generations.

Retro and Vintage

Retro and vintage are terms that are very similar yet very different. Both are used to describe styles and fashion from decades past. Generally, retro is used to describe styles that are less than five decades old, while vintage is used to describe styles that are fifty to one hundred years old. Each is similar in that they both have a certain unique charm. Retro is more nostalgic, as it often speaks to styles popular from early childhood to late teens. A good example is lava lamps; these products were very popular in the 80s and almost every child and teen had one in their room. Vintage is less nostalgic and charming in that it gives the feeling of going back to a simpler time.
